Computational Research for Infectious Diseases
Connect microbial sequence analysis and phylogenetics with computational approaches to therapeutic discovery. Build practical skills using R, accessible research tools and public datasets.
How you will learn: Flipped learning puts short preparatory materials before each session, reserving live classes for guided analysis, practice, troubleshooting and feedback.
Four-week learning plan
R for Biological Research
Importing and cleaning data, basic analysis and clear scientific visualisation.
Microbial Phylogenetics
Sequence retrieval, alignment, phylogenetic tree construction and interpretation.
Computational Drug Discovery
Protein and ligand preparation, molecular docking, screening concepts and interaction analysis.
Research Integration
Reproducible workflows, interpretation, scientific reporting and a guided mini-project.
24 guided hours, plus independent assignments. Teaching draws on experienced researchers and industry practitioners.
Floret Research Collaboration Pathway
Committed participants may be considered for a free, optional post-masterclass research collaboration. Selection reflects practical performance, research integrity, dedication and team capacity, subject to available projects and mentorship.
Collaborations may include contributions to manuscripts intended for peer-reviewed publication. Authorship is determined under ICMJE authorship criteria; contribution roles may be documented through CRediT. Participation or payment alone does not confer authorship.
Tuition and Scholarship Opportunities
Standard tuition
Includes four weeks of structured instruction and practical learning activities.
Postgraduate Student Discounts & Partial Scholarships — Up to 50%*
The Floret Centre offers limited tuition discounts and partial scholarships of up to 50% for eligible applicants, with particular consideration for currently enrolled master's and doctoral students. Awards are based on demonstrated financial need, academic circumstances and available scholarship funding.
*Maximum tuition discount: 50% of the applicable programme fee.
