Dr. Abdullahi Musa is an Organic Chemist specializing in natural product drug discovery and development. He earned his Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia, under the supervision of Prof. Nanik Siti Aminah and Dr. Olabisi Flora Davies-Bolorunduro. He proceeded directly to his Ph.D. program in the same department and graduated in 2025. He currently serves as a Research Fellow at the Floret Center for Advanced Genomics and Bioinformatics Research and as an International Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia. His work focuses on isolating and characterizing plant-derived secondary metabolites and evaluating their pharmacological potential using both experimental and computational approaches.
Dr. Musa has collaborated internationally, conducting research in Malaysia, Japan, and Pakistan, and has gained expertise in advanced chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques, bioassays, and in silico modeling and dynamic simulation. His recent projects include the discovery of α-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibitors from endangered plant species, molecular encapsulation studies of catechin for anticancer applications, and industrial R&D in natural vinegar production.
With a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences, Abdullahi brings technical expertise, global research experience, and a passion for innovation. He is particularly interested in integrating organic chemistry with genomics and bioinformatics to accelerate the discovery of novel bioactive compounds for therapeutic use.
