Ms. Otálora Acevedo is a Ph.D. candidate in Biodiversity (Genomics) at the University of Barcelona. She holds a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences (Evolutionary Biology) from the University of Chile and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia. Her research focuses on biodiversity, conservation genetics, evolutionary biology, and bioinformatics, with expertise in phylogeography, molecular biology, and genomic data analysis. She is an active member of the GEVOL (University of Chile) and EVOK (University of Barcelona) research groups, bringing over a decade of experience in university teaching, scientific data analysis, bioinformatics, and project management.

At the Floret Center, she serves as a Research Fellow, contributing to computational biology and biodiversity genomics research, as well as capacity-building initiatives, while fostering collaborations that integrate molecular data into conservation and public health strategies.
