Floret Center Concludes FESIP II 2025–2026 Cohort

African Talent. Computational Science. Biomedical Discovery.

Lagos, Nigeria · 30 September 2026

The Floret Center for Advanced Genomics and Bioinformatics Research announces the completion of the second cohort of its Floret Emerging Scientists Internship Program (FESIP). The programme formally concluded on Thursday, 24 September 2026, and certificates of completion and distinction have been issued.

The 2025–2026 cohort brought together early-career African scientists for mentored research and practical training in genomics, bioinformatics, and computational life sciences. Through journal clubs, technical training, independent research, and e-poster presentations, participants strengthened their skills in research design, data analysis, and scientific communication.

Postgraduate interns led their research projects under the guidance of their respective mentors and are preparing the resulting manuscripts as first authors for submission to relevant peer-reviewed journals. The projects addressed biomedical questions spanning computational drug discovery, infectious diseases, microbiome research, and medicinal plants.

The Center thanks the participants, mentors, and guest trainers for their contributions and reaffirms its commitment to developing African research talent and advancing computational approaches to biomedical discovery.
